Burris Fullfield (E1 Series) Scope Review

When Burris decided to improve their Burris Fullfield riflescopes they didn't go back to the drawing board.  That wasn't needed because there was nothing wrong with these quality scopes.  However, Burris did find ways to enhance them, improving their shootability for beginning hunters as well as serious shooting competitors.  They are now offered in the Burris Fullfield E1 Series that replaces the originals, the Fullfield II Series, Fullfield II Tactical and Fullfield TAC 30 Series.  We'll summarize the top features of the Fullfield scopes before we list some pros and cons below, along with suggestions for who will make the best use of these quality products from Burris.

Top Features of the Fullfield Riflescopes from Burris

The new profile is sleek and includes upgraded windage and elevation knobs.

The integrated power ring is also new to go with an eyepiece that will now work with a flip-up lens cap.

The Ballistic Plex E1 reticle was added to the E1 models while other Fullfield scopes sport a Plex or Ballistic Plex reticle.

The etched glass of the Ballistic Plex E1 reticle is simple and uncluttered, yet produces exceptional trajectory and wind compensation.

Precision-ground lenses are beefier that most of the competition, delivering more light transmission.

The index-matched lenses in the E1 series have HiLume multicoatings for clarity, brightness and resolution.

The Fullfield II series is a more affordable series than the E1 but still provides good optics and functional design.

Fullfield E1 scopes start at 2x-7x-35mm and range upward to 4.5x-14x-42mm.

The E1 and TAC 30 scopes and many of the other Fullfield models are backed by the Forever warranty from Burris that stays with the scope regardless of who owns it.

Advantages of the Burris Fullfield Scopes

The E1 and the TAC30 scopes are the top of the line and some of the best in their class.  The optics in all the different Fullfield series are a good value for their price point.  All the Fullfield scopes are nitrogen purge and filled, and sealed with unique 4 o-ring design to ensure that they are waterproof, verified in testing.  They are also crafted and tested for fogproof, shockproof performance.

Disadvantages of the Fullfield Riflescopes from Burris

Experienced hunters and shooters will notice a drop-off in quality from the E1 series to the Fullfield II series.  If you want the very best series, choose the E1 or the TAC30 depending on how you plan to use the scope.  The E1 and TAC30 lines are pricey so some won't want to spend the extra to get the top of the line models.  Still, competitive shooters and serious hunters will find the top lines a good value when they use them heavily.

Who Should Consider a Burris Fullfield Scope?

The value of these series is that there are multiple models from which to choose, based on the specs you need, your purposes and your budget.  The E1 and TAC30 are best for those who have the skill and experience -- and are willing to put in the practice required -- to make the most of these high-performance models.

Conclusion

The upgrades to the Fullfield series in the E1 series are a definite plus.  All of the series offer different options to fit your hunting/shooting style and the money you want to spend.  Burris quality and attention to detail is seen in all of these Burris Fullfield scopes.
